Miami Marlins (30-28) vs Oakland Athletics (12-47)

I am coming back with the Marlins on the run line again today. They have a big pitching advantage in this game and the A's simply can't score runs.
Eury Perez is young and fun to watch. Does that translate to wins? Not all of the time but he certainly has the advantage today. He gets to face an A's lineup that has scored 2 or fewer runs in 12 of their last 14 games. In those 12 games, they scored a grand total of 17 runs. That truly is amazing for a major league team to be that inept. I look for the young right-hander to be able to keep the Athletics under wraps today. His walks over the past two games are a bit concerning but it's hard for me to believe that the A's can move the line with key base hits or home runs. They rank last in the league in OPS .621 and AVG .204 against righties and they have struck out the 2nd most in the league (Twins). Perez should get plenty of swings and misses today with that nasty slider.
Luis Medina (0-4 6.83 era) takes the hill for the A's. His numbers aren't great but he actually hasn't been horrible as far as A's starters are concerned. Having said that, he has allowed a whopping 7 home runs in 22.1 innings this season. He has to pitch a near perfect game to keep the A's in the game every time he takes the bump and that is hard to do. The bad news for him and the A's is the bullpen is very bad. Even if Medina can keep it close early, the bullpen advantage is with the Marlins.
I love this matchup for Miami and I look for an eerily similar game to game 1 of this series.
Take Miami -1.5
Best of luck -- Mike
