Grande Valley’s backcourt is anchored by its lone returning starter, senior Justin Johnson, who led the team in scoring last season. Johnson is having a solid 2022-23 campaign, averaging a team-high 13.8 points per game on 40.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Second-year head coach Matt Figger recruited the top 2022 freshman prospect from the state of Oklahoma in guard Adante’ Holiman, who has made an immediate impact with 8.8 points per game (50.0% FG%; 55.6% 3-PT%). Western Kentucky transfer Sherman Brashear and junior college transfer C.J. Jackson provide additional experience in the backcourt. Grande Valley’s frontcourt is led by Weber State transfer Dima Zdor, a 6-foot-10 forward who is second on the team in both scoring (11.8 ppg) and rebounds (5.0 rpg). Western Illinois could be missing its second-leading scorer in Trenton Massner, who is averaging 13.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game but is dealing with a hand injury. The Leathernecks are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games, including 0-7 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 0-8 ATS in their previous eight affairs off an against-the-spread defeat. With Grande Valley standing at 6-0-1 ATS after falling short of market expectations in its last game, grab the points with the Vaqueros and invest with confidence.
