Despite being ravaged by injuries last season, head coach Richie Riley led South Alabama to 21 wins and a postseason berth. Riley is one of the most underrated coaches in the nation and has once again put together a talented roster of players who have something to prove. South Alabama’s recruiting class consisted of three former Division II players, two of whom have made an immediate impact. Graduate transfer Isaiah Moore (Franklin Pierce College) leads the team in scoring with 19.8 points per game, while graduate transfer Owen White (Michigan Tech) is contributing 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds across 34.4 minutes per game. South Alabama’s backcourt is anchored by returning senior Tyrell Jones, who was limited by injuries last season and is averaging 9.4 points per game. Graduate transfer Greg Parham (VMI) is averaging 10.0 points per game and provides Riley with another weapon in the backcourt. The Jaguars’ frontcourt is led by graduate transfer Kevin Samuel (Florida Gulf Coast), who was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league and finishing 10th in the country in blocks. South Alabama is 4-0 ATS in its last four games and 4-1 ATS in its last five games versus .601 or greater opposition, whereas Towson is just 2-7-1 ATS in its previous ten neutral-site affairs. My math model favors Towson by just 4.01 points in this game so grab the points with the Jaguars and invest with confidence.
