Delaware captured its first conference title since 2014 last season and seventh-year head coach Martin Ingelsby brings back a talented group from that squad. Delaware’s backcourt is anchored by redshirt junior Jameer Nelson Jr., who finished fifth in steal percentage (3.8), eighth in three-point percentage (.390) and fourteenth in free-throw rate (30.9) in conference play last season. Nelson is joined in the backcourt by graduate transfer L.J. Owen (UMBC), who has made an immediate impact with 9.9 points per game on 49.1% shooting from the field. La Salle transfer Christian Ray started 34 games during his tenure with the Explorers and is shooting 58.8% from the field for the Hens this season. Delaware’s frontcourt is led by Jyare Davis, who is second in scoring with 15.7 points per game and third in assists per game (2.4). Nelson and Davis are one of the conference’s best inside-outside combos and Ingelsby brought in some valuable pieces via the transfer portal. My math model favors Delaware in this game and Davidson is a money-burning 1-8 ATS in its last nine road games following three or more consecutive home affairs and 0-5 ATS in its last five road games versus teams with a .601 or greater home record. Grab the points with the Hens and invest with confidence.
