NC State Wolfpack (0-0) vs Western Carolina Catamounts (0-0)

When you look at a lot of these giant favorites for Week 1 of the season, you rarely see totals this steep. A team may be favored by 35+ points, but the total will simmer around the low to mid 50s. We are in the low 60s here, and I believe for good reason. Western Carolina had a playoff-level offense last year in FCS action and it returns its star QB in Cole Gonzales. Gonzales loses some top weapons, but this WCU OL is strong and I think the offense is going to at least put up a fight in this game. The WCU offense was one of the best in FCS last year and while NC State's defense was stout in 2023, it does lose one of its best defenders in Peyton Wilson. NC State should have no problems scoring and dunking on this WCU defense, a defense that was miserable in 2023. Grayson McCall can make big home-run plays, and NC State should find itself in the high 40s, low 50s by the end of this game. I think WCU can chip in two touchdowns+, even if that means during garbage time, to get us over this total on Thursday night. Give me the over here.
