Stanford Cardinal (1-1) vs San Diego State Aztecs (2-0)

Stanford should improve this season and be a tough team to face in PAC-12 play, but the Cardinal are playing their worst nightmare in this game. Stanford's biggest problems last year and already this year have been turnovers, turnovers, and more turnovers. Stanford was ranked 349th in turnover percentage on offense and 294th on defense last year. This year, Stanford is ranked 283rd on offense and 302nd on defense. Stanford struggled in the turnover department against Wisconsin and Pacific, two teams that were ranked outside the top 150 in forced turnover percentage last year. Now, you face a team and a defense that is BUILT on forcing turnovers, just as it did against BYU down the stretch to win that game. SDSU is ranked 31st in defensive turnover percentage this season and was ranked 27th in the same category last year. SDSU is experienced, is a good rebounding team, has plenty of shooters (that are waiting for a breakout performance), and has a ton of depth. Stanford's defense may be strong and there are a few talented scorers on this roster as well, but SDSU's best offense should be its defense as the fast-break points should be found in bunches for SDSU tonight. This is a mismatch and as much as I think Stanford will be a better team in 2022-23 compared to last year, this is just not the matchup you want as a Cardinal fan.
