I love me some WAC basketball and I really do like this Sam Houston State team, but this is a putrid spot for the Bearkats and I have to fade them here. Sam Houston State is a very strong defensive team that forces a lot of turnovers, bad passes, and tough shots. Against a team like Oklahoma, a team that has struggled so mightily offensively with bad shot selection and turnovers, Sam Houston State was able to thrive and earn the outright upset win for us on the first day of the season. Against a team like Utah, however, a team that takes care of the basketball has a strong frontcourt presence, has a few strong perimeter shooters, and can attack the offensive glass/get to the free throw line I do not like Sam Houston State's chances. Sam Houston State's offense is hard to watch at times and Utah is good enough defensively to hold the Bearkats to under 60 points in this game. Utah played a very similar team to SHSU last year in Abilene Christian and Utah handled the Wildcats by double-digits in that game. I expect a similar result here, as Utah is just too much on both sides of the ball. Not to mention that this is a true home game for Utah, which should help the Utes as well.
