Minnesota Golden Gophers (16-9) vs Ohio State Buckeyes (14-11)

Minnesota is the best ATS team in the nation but because of that strong cover %, I think the Gophers are overvalued here. Ohio State is coming off the huge upset win over Purdue and while a letdown spot is always in the back of your mind, the Buckeyes don’t really have time for a letdown as this team needs to run the table in the regular season and make some noise in the conference tourney to have a chance at the Big Dance. It is not like this is impossible, as Ohio State will only be a sizable dog against Michigan State but should be favored or a very small dog in every other regular season game (including this one). Shot qualtiy wise Ohio State has created good looks all season. The defense has been the problem for the Buckeyes, but it’s not like Minnesota is an offensive juggernaut. Yes, Minnesota has a great effective FG % but that has been built on making tough, low % shots all season. Minnesota turns the ball over quite a bit and is still one of the worst FT shooting teams in the nation (which could be crucial if this is a close game late). I think Ohio State pulls off another big upset on Thursday night.
