Houston Astros (48-27) vs Los Angeles Angels (37-41)

The Houston Astros ML is my MLB Best Bet for Saturday, July 2nd. The Astros will more than likely be a very public play, especially with Friday night's result, but that does not bother me. Jose Urquidy is not my favorite starting pitcher, I have made that clear during the Rundown videos this season; however, Urquidy faces an Angels lineup that is only getting production from the top half and an Angels lineup that has struggled badly against RHP in the last 30 days. No team has struck out at a higher % than the Halos vs. RHP in the last 30 days and even though Urquidy does not have the best K rate himself, his whiff and chase rate is getting higher and I do believe he can find a few strikeouts here. Urquidy has a modest 4.54 xFIP but more than Urquidy's performance here, I think the Astros' lineup goes to town on Patrick Sandoval. We found a ton of value on Sandoval at the start of the season, but now is the time to jump ship and start to fade him as he is plainly not a sub-3.00 ERA caliber pitcher. Sandoval's xFIP is at 4.04 so his ERA to xFIP ratio is steep. Sandoval faces an Astros team that is 5th in the league in team OPS and isolated power vs. LHP in the last 30 days. Houston is also 3rd in wRC+ vs. LHP in that stretch, and with Pena back in the lineup, this offense is in even better shape. The Stros also have the far better bullpen and lineup here and even though their starting pitcher may not dazzle me, I think he is more than good enough for a Houston home victory here. Because of Sandoval's 2.63 ERA, we are getting a great price with the Stros. Give me Houston ML. Good luck everyone and thank you for your support!
