Ron's Rundown Friday MLB Best Bet

The Royals had a pretty ugly series in Minnesota as KC got swept and dropped two of the three games on the run line as well. The Royals have been pretty miserable on the run line overall lately, as 12 of their last 17 losses have been by more than 1 run. With Jonathan Heasley on the mound here, I don't like the Royals' chances for a run line cover, especially in a tough travel spot facing a rested team. The Red Sox have Michael Wacha on the mound and while I do think there is some regression in his game to be concerned about, I think he is the far better option and has been very impressive this season, even at a hitter-friendly home park in Fenway. The Royals' bullpen has not been great and with their 2nd-best reliever, in my opinion, more than likely unavailable for this game after pitching 2.0 innings on Thursday, this does not set up to be a great day for Royals' pitchers. The Red Sox have been a major letdown this season and one could worry about their motivation on the field, but there are still many players fighting for roster spots and jobs elsewhere and I don't think Boston lets KC compete in this one. Give me the Red Sox -1.5.
