This is a play on the PITTSBURGH PIRATES as part of our MLB Afternoon Triple Play. The Twins have not shook off getting swept in New York against the Yankees as they have lost the first two games of this series, getting shutout in both games. While this is normally a good spot to back a team coming off consecutive shutouts, this is not a good situation with the pitching matchup. The Pirates have now won four of their last five games which included taking two of three against the Dodgers and they have even their record at home at 16-16. They have been much better following a 3-14 run as they are 17-14 over their last 31 games to get back to sniffing the .500 mark. Jared Jones outdueled Tyler Glasnow in his last starts as he shut out the potent Dodgers offense over six innings in a 1-0 Pirates win. FanGraphs system credits Jones with some of the best overall makeup in the Majors so far including Stuff+ and Pitching + metrics, largely thanks to his top-ranking fastball. He has allowed more than three runs only one time in 12 starts which came on the road and his 76:15 K:BB ratio has impacted his incredible 1.01 WHIP to go along with his 3.45 xERA. Bailey Ober was solid over his first three seasons but he is having his most inconsistent season with a 4.94 ERA and 4.03 xERA. In seven road starts, he has only two good outings where he has an ERA of 5.50 and what has hurt him the most of late is what has killed him throughout his career, the long ball, as he has allowed eight home runs over his last seven starts. 10* (974) Pittsburgh Pirates
