Ball State Cardinals -2.5
The Ball State Cardinals will travel to Huskie Stadium to take on the Northern Illinois Huskies this Wednesday night in College Football action and I like the Cardinals to cover this small road spread.
Ball State came into this season with high expectations and although they had a slow start, Ball State has really found their rhythm as of late winning 4 of their last 5 games which includes impressive wins against Army and at Western Michigan.
Northern Illinois has been solid this season, however, this is a team that certainly has some question marks on the defensive end as they come into this game ranked 117th in rushing defense & 87th in passing defense. Northern Illinois allowed Kent State to put up 52 points against them and is allowing opponents to average 33.8 ppg on 448.7 total yards per game (243.9 passing yds/g; 204.8 rushing yds/g).
The Cardinals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 14-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Huskies are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss and 4-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Ball State has balanced offense that should have success in this game and as I think the Drew Plitt & Justin Hall combination is going to be too much for the Northern Illinois defense to handle, I’m taking Ball State to cover this small road spread.
