Rutgers Scarlet Knights -3
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will square off against the DePaul Blue Demons in the Gavitt Tipoff Games and I like Rutgers to roll in this one.
DePaul is still trying to rebuild and are coming off a few impressive victories in which the offense looked outstanding, however, the Blue Demons really didn’t face anything in competition in those two games (Coppin State & Central Michigan) and I think they are going to struggle against a Rutgers team that will be much more physical than DePaul has seen this season.
Rutgers comes into this game with an 3-0 record and have back their best two players in Ron Harper Jr. & Geo Baker who despite having slow starts, are arguably going to be the best two players on the court tonight.
The Scarlet Knights are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Blue Demons are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Thursday games.
DePaul’s offensive success in their first two games I think has swayed the public a bit in terms of their true ability, but make no mistake, this DePaul team is not far off from the team we saw last year finish with a 5-14 record and as I think Rutgers is just the more talented team, I think they have no issue covering this small spread. Good Luck!
Brett’s Pick Rutgers Scarlet Knights: -3 -110
