The Liberty Flames and Iona Gaels will square off in the HP Field House this Friday night in the MAAC/ASUN Challenge and I love that the Gaels are getting points in this matchup.

Liberty is the team to beat in the ASUN this season and showed how dangerous they can be in their competitive game at LSU, however, this is not as strong as a team as the Flames had last season, despite the return of Darius McGhee.

Iona improved to 3-0 on the season with an impressive win against a solid Hofstra team and is the team to beat in the MAAC this season as Rick Pitino did a great job in bring in transfers Tyson Jolly & Elijah Jointer to go with one of the best players last year in the MAAC in Nelly Junior Joseph. Iona has been outstanding offensively to start the season as they come into this one shooting an impressive 47.3% from the field.

The Gaels are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Flames are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Iona is coached by one of the best coaches in all of College Basketball in Rick Pitino and as I just think Iona has more depth and scoring punch that Liberty, I think the Gaels win this one outright. Good Luck!
