I got nabbed with the Padres a couple of nights ago against the Phillies, but I think this is setting up to be a great spot for the Padres here. Yu Darvish goes for the Padres, and Darvish has been solid at home this year, going 4-1 with a 1.34 ERA. Darvish also has a 1.88 career ERA against Philadelphia, including seven shutout innings in a win earlier this season. Kyle Gibson’s listed as the starter for the Phillies and he’s been a bottom tier option for Philly, going 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA on the road this year and we’re talking about 30 innings on the road, so the small sample size and bloated ERA excuse doesn’t work anymore. I think this is one of those games where the pitching advantage is enough for me to make the Padres my play of the day on Sunday.
