Seattle Mariners (34-40) vs Baltimore Orioles (34-40)

I get why some may hop off of the Orioles after falling short in Sunday’s finale against the White Sox and now having to travel to Seattle for this series. However, Tyler Wells has been instrumental in Baltimore’s success in June, with the O’s going 4-0 in his starts and with Wells himself going 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA. Granted, his 5.12 FIP in June suggests that Wells has been extremely lucky, but Seattle to me isn’t the kind of team to expose that and take advantage of it. Julio Rodriguez is the only consistent starter for the M’s with a hard-hit percentage above 40% this year and that’s not good considering that Wells doesn’t allow a lot of hard contact. George Kirby starts for the M’s on Monday, and he does allow a lot of hard contact, in the top 25 of pitchers with at least 200 plate appearances against this season. The O’s, despite their shortcomings have four regular starters with a 40%+ hard hit percentage this season, and I think the O’s get to Kirby and keep their solid run going with a win here. Give me Baltimore.
