Toronto Blue Jays (40-32) vs Boston Red Sox (42-31)

I get why Toronto would be favored at home, but the problem is that the Blue Jays have been off lately, losing 7 of their last 10 games and are not coming home off of a six-game road trip to face arguably the hottest team in the majors in the last month in the Red Sox, who have won 28 of their last 37 games. Kevin Gausman’s starting for Toronto here and he’s had some success against the Red Sox early this year, but that came back in late April when Gausman was rolling and no one could solve his splitter, and the Red Sox were also a disaster at the time. But at this point in time, Gausman’s struggled in June, with the Jays going 0-4 as a team in his starts and Gausman himself going 0-3 with a 5.50 ERA and a 2.39 FIP, suggesting that a lot of that is bad luck. Problem is that the win-loss record doesn’t care about how lucky or unlucky you are. They don’t ask how you got your wins, they ask how many you have, and the Jays haven’t had any luck lately with Gausman regardless of the luck. Connor Seabold gets the call up for this one, and he has the stuff, going 5-1 with a 2.09 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in AAA this season. I think getting the Red Sox at this price is an absolute steal. Give me Boston here.
