San Francisco Giants (39-33) vs Detroit Tigers (28-44)

Up until a couple of weeks ago, you could’ve given me plus money like this with Tarik Skubal and I would’ve tried my luck no matter how bad the Tigers were. However, Skubal’s been torched in his last three starts, going 0-3 with a 9.88 ERA and although his 5.47 FIP suggests he’s been really unlucky, the win-loss record doesn’t care about luck. The Skubal that once had allowed a home run once in his first ten starts, has allowed a homer in four straight and that could get extended here against a Giants team that has a lot of power threats that you may not expect outside of Joc Pederson. Carlos Rodon hasn’t been an ace by any means, but he’s been pretty good in June, going 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA and a 1.89 FIP, and while the Giants are just 2-3 in those five starts, a lot of that has to do with the bullpen not being able to hold but against this lacklustre Detroit lineup, that’s been outscored 19-2 in Skubal’s last three starts, I don’t think that’ll be an issue. Rodon’s also got a 2.19 home ERA this season while Skubal’s boasting a 4.32 ERA on the road this year. I think the Giants win this one by a couple, so give me San Fran -1.5 here as my best bet of the day.
