Ruffolo's Thursday MLB Pickoff Play

I get that this isn’t the kind of price you normally associate with the Seattle Mariners. However, Logan Gilbert’s been arguably the staff ace this season with an 8-3 record and a 2.44 ERA, and at home, Gilbert’s posting a 2.27 ERA and a .217 opposing batting average against. Now I’m not likening the M’s to the Yankees that just took it to the Oakland A’s to start the week, but Oakland’s had a hard time, hitting righties at a .205 average in the month of June, second worst in the majors in the month. Oaklan’d sending Adrian Martinez to the mound here and while Martinez had a solid debut, it came back in May against the Tigers who were one of the worst teams in the majors at the time. Martinez has had an ERA well over five in each of his last two seasons in AAA as well. The M’s have won four of Gilbert’s last five starts and three of those four wins have come by at least two runs.
