Washington Nationals (29-49) vs Miami Marlins (34-40)

Trevor Rogers and Josiah Gray aren’t names I would’ve associated with a pitcher’s duel early on this season, but in this matchup, at this line, I’m not sure how you go any other way than the under. Gray’s been solid in “day” starts, posting a 1.05 ERA in games before 7:00 PM EST this season while Trevor Rogers’ ERA on the road is half of what it is at home this year, pitching far better in the visiting ballpark this season. Rogers is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings against the Nationals this year, with meeting in Washington finishing at 3-2, and I’d argue that two of Rogers’ best starts this year came against Washington. On the flipside, Josiah Gray’s most recent start against the Marlins saw his toss five shutout innings in a 2-1 loss, which is one of Gray’s three most recent starts that all finished with 5 total runs or less. In 4 June starts, Gray has a 1.13 ERA, with a 1-3 team record telling me the Nats aren’t scoring enough to help Gray out, which further drives home that I think this is an under all day. Give me the under as my best bet of the day here.
