I get why you’d want to look at backing the Cardinals at home, but the problem I have here is that Jordan Montgomery is taking the mound for the Cardinals and is going up against his former club that’s also one of the most powerful offenses in all of baseball. The problem is also that the Yankees know what’s in Montgomery’s repertoire, and in the past, pitchers first start against their former team doesn’t go all that well. Look at Justin Verlander. First ballot hall of famer, but in his first start against Detroit, he allowed five runs in a losing effort. I’m not comparing Verlander to Montgomery here, but you see the point I’m making. I think that the Yankees tee off on their former teammate and get a much-needed win over St. Louis here.
