I get the case to be made for the Mercury as a home dog, but while both teams have clinched, this to me feels like a Sun spot. The Mercury are almost locked into 7th, a lot would have to go right for them to leapfrog the Fever to make it into 6th, but that’s as high as they’d go and they’re not getting caught by the 8-seed, whoever it is. The Sun can leapfrog Minnesota to hop into second if they keep winning and there’s also the fact that these are two teams headed in different directions. The Sun throttled the Sparks in back-to-back wins, while the Mercury have lost 5 of 6, with all the losses coming by double-digits and the bulk of those gams were against teams on the level of the Sun like the Storm, Aces, Lynx and Liberty. The Sun have also owned the Mercury this season, going 3-0 with an average margin of victory of over 20 PPG. Give me Connecticut.
