Wyoming Cowboys (3-2) vs San Jose State Spartans (2-1)

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl is once again exceeding expectations in Laramie despite having one of the least experienced teams in the nation (129th in returning production, 44%). The Cowboys are 3-2 SU and ATS, including impressive wins over Tulsa and Air Force. Wyoming’s defense has been very good at home this season where it has allowed just 313 yards per game and should have success containing a pedestrian San Jose State attacked ranked 101st in scoring offense, 104th in total offense, and 115th in red zone offense. Wyoming Edge rushers Braden Siders and Oluwaseyi Omotosho have combined for five of the team’s ten sacks at War Memorial Stadium and should add to those totals against a subpar San Jose State offensive line ranked 102nd in pass blocking, per Pro Football Focus (PFF). San Jose State’s offensive line has yielded eleven sacks in three games this season. Wyoming’s offense is led by junior running back Titus Swen, who emerged as the team's #1 back after rushing for 785 yards at 5.9 yards per carry last season (5.6 yards per carry on 216 career runs). Swen is averaging nearly 5.0 yards on 82 carries in 2022 and works behind a very talented offensive line ranked 9th in the nation in run blocking, per PFF. Junior Andrew Peasley is one of the best running quarterbacks in the country, averaging 11.5 yards on 56 career runs (not including sacks). Peasley has improved significantly as a passer this season, averaging 5.7 yards per pass attempt compared to his career average of 5.1 yards per pass attempt. He has been even better at home this season where he has completed 57-of-83 (68.7%) passes for 562 yards at 6.8 yards per pass play. Finally, Wyoming is playing with legitimate revenge for last year’s 27-21 loss at San Jose State and the Cowboys have altitude on their side. My math model only favors the Spartans by 0.04 points so grab the live home underdog and invest with confidence.
