The right-hander struggled with the Nationals last season where he allowed 13 runs (11 earned) in 8 1/3 innings. He works with below-average velocity, is considered a below-average athlete, has had health issues (there were knee and elbow concerns coming out of high school, then he blew out about halfway through his sophomore year at South Carolina), and struggled during his first big league trial, at age 25/26.
