This is a play on the NEW YORK YANKEES for our MLB Star Attraction. The Yankees had their eight-game winning streak snapped last night in a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers in 11 innings. New York is still 21-9 at home and laying a fair price with a pitching edge looking toward the metrics and the situation despite the Dodgers hitting lefties well. Los Angeles remains eight games up on the Padres in the National League West but is still just 7-8 in its last 15 games as the offense has been struggling. One big reason is that Shohei Ohtani has been battling a hamstring issue and he is hitting just .195 since May 16 after a 0-5 performance last night. Nestor Cortes gets the ball for the Yankees and he is back home after a pair of subpar efforts on the west coast. He has allowed four runs or more in four of his 13 starts and all of those were on the road where he has a 6.17 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in seven outings. Conversely, he has a 1.12 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in six home starts, allowing no earned runs in four of those. He is second among Yankees starters with a 3.11 xERA, third of all qualified pitchers on the roster. Gavin Stone has been dealing as well as he has a 2.32 ERA and 1.16 WHIP through 11 starts, allowing more than three runs only once. He has been lights out on the road with a 1.17 ERA and 0.96 WHIP but has made only four road starts and none against a team ranked in the top 12 in OPS where the Yankees possess the No. 1 ranking. Negative regression is on the way as he has a 3.94 xERA. 10* (930) New York Yankees
