The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will travel to the State Farm Center to take on the 14th ranked Illinois Fighting Illini this Monday night and I like Illinois to cover a small home spread.

Illinois has not looked like a top-25 team to start the season and is coming off a tougher than expected victory over the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros, however, this is still a very talented team that is going to have the best player on the court in Kofi Cockburn.

Notre Dame is not as talented of a team as we’ve seen in past years, and I have some major concerns with the Irish after they allowed a Texas A&M team that struggles to score the basketball to put up 50+ points on them in the 2nd half in their recent 73-67 margin.

The Fighting Irish are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Fighting Illini are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600.

I think Notre Dame, which ranks just t-204th in scoring offense, is going to struggle in a tough road environment and as I think the Illinois offense will put up plenty of points in this one, I think the Fighting Illini do enough to cover this spread. Good Luck!
