Los Angeles Angels (49-49) vs Colorado Rockies (43-56)

I’m not eager to back a team with a road winning percentage just above .200 like the Rockies, but you have to bite the bullet when called upon as they’re not going to lose every road game and I think this is one of those spots. Austin Gomber’s been arguably the Rockies best and most consistent pitcher this season and in his first start off of the IL, he held a really good Mariners team to just three runs in six innings of work at home. Granted, Gomber’s done his best work at home by a mile, but he’s still the better pitcher over the Angels’ Jose Suarez and Gomber’s road ERA of five-plus is simply inflated to hell because of a bad start at San Francisco where he allowed nine runs in less than two innings back in April, and a start against his former employers in St. Louis where he allowed five runs in five innings. Other than that, Gomber’s allowed two earned runs or less in six of the other seven starts, and the one outlier saw him allow three runs in six innings on the road against a really good Dodger team. I just think the Angels continue to be overvalued here and while they’ll have Ohtani and will be getting Mike Trout back soon, I think all of the value is on the Rockies here.
