New York Yankees (70-34) vs Seattle Mariners (55-49)

I get why the Yankees are favored here as they’re going to get the name brand bias and Gerrit Cole will as well. However, Cole has not been sharp in his two starts post all-star break, allowing 9 runs, 8 earned, in 12 innings of work. Now Cole did throw seven shutout innings against the Reds a few starts ago, but Luis Castillo threw seven innings of one run ball against the Yankees two starts ago and will be making his Mariners debut here. I think Castillo will want to put his best foot forward for his new team and I’m just not in a spot where I want to be laying this kind of juice or chasing a run line with Gerrit Cole in his current from. Castillo had a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts with the Reds pre-trade, and with a better Seattle team behind him, I think he gives the Mariners a shot to at worst, continue their reign as kings of playing in one-run games fi they don’t win this one outright. Give me the Mariners +1.5 here.
Chris’s Pick Seattle Mariners: +1.5 -137
